Hi Paige, it's almost sure i will ser the Waterboys at LAURUS NOBILIS Festival. I would like to know more about the ser list for the concert; will the Waterboys play some old songs or mainly songs from Modern Blues?. I would like to know how to proceed to share a couple of words with Mike (maybe at the end of the show)? and even with you, Paige, will you be there?.

Greetings from Portugal, Carlos

Webteam writes:

Hello Carlos,

The setlist will most likely be similar to other recent concerts with a lot of tunes from Modern Blues, but some old faves as well.

Love,
Paige

I first saw the Waterboys in 1983 when I sneaked in as a young 15 year old to the Heathery Bar in Wishaw, Scotland. I was luckly enough to get to meet the original members of the band. I look forward to the Wickerman Festival as a very young 47 year old who will be at the front of the crowd shouting for "A girl called Johnny", "December", "Where are you when I need you?" ---- the list goes on! Hello! Can someone please tell me the name of the blond female background singer in the video of "The Whole of the Moon" from 1985? She is short haired and standing left to the trumpet player. Thank you

Just watched Glasto gig on iPlayer.Wow! How I wish I had been there! Fab day and the band seemed to enjoy it immensely.Mike was as sartorially elegant as always and Steve seemed to play better than ever-if that is possible! The band are so good, it is impossible to compare them to anyone else.I'm sure they got new fans today, although some of the younger ones didn't quite know how to react to singing about this 'sh**hole..'!! Maybe they thought he was referring to Glastonbury itself, although he did explain the song before getting them to sing along. But heyho! It was an excellent gig and I am SO glad the fans managed to get BBC to cover it !!
Thanks guys for all the great music, past, present and future xxxx

Hi Mike,
We are coming to see you at the Canterbury gig in November and would love it if you played the Song of Wandering Aengus and November Tale. Love them both and the hairs stand up on the back of the neck each time I hear them played.
See you there

THANK YOU!

Thanks to all of you who signed the fan petition requesting BBC coverage and broadcast of The Waterboys set this year at Glastonbury Festival. Thanks to your efforts the BBC has agreed to film and stream the performance, but there are still no guarantees that it will be aired as part of their television coverage.

The petition will be open for further comment to the BBC until Monday 22 June when it will be delivered requesting that the BBC include the Waterboys in their Glastonbury television coverage.

You can sign and comment at

Last night This is the Sea came into my head. I'm deaf now but, wonderfully, remember the brilliance of that song.

I wrote about it here. http://donna-tellmeastory.blogspot.com/2015/06/this-is-sea.html

Thank you!

Mike Scott: We came late to your music. We were overwhelmed by the superb show you put on May 19, 2015 at U Vic auditorium. The superb album "Modern Blues" was exuberantly and faithfully presented and the older material was equally excellent. This was one of the most memorable shows we have ever attended. The lyrics, melodies and impact make this the album of 2015. No question!

Just discovered the Waterboys this year...the Wilmington show was outsgtanding (I was embarrassed to see so many empty seats). Have turned by friends on to the music and they are now hooked too. At 61 there is always the opportunity to discover new music. May try to get to London for the December show!

I knew my first Waterboys concert was going to be great and it was even better than that. The greatness of Mike Scott is evident in his writing, singing, and playing, as well as those top-notch musicians around him. One other thing was the sound mix was perfect.

Brilliant show at the Aladdin Theater, Portland. After 30 years of missing each other, finally got to see the band (although almost got to see them in Glasgow last year on my first trip back to UK in 16 years). Love the new album. Only one complaint: no "The Pan Within"? Ah well, maybe next time...

Wow, loved your show at the Showbox in Seattle. So much energy! And so great to be that close to the band. "Don't bang the drum" was exceptional. For the last two weeks all I've listened to is Modern Blues so I was oh-so familiar with the lyrics, 'November Tale' and 'Long Strange Golden Road', stuck out for me. Love the chorus." Keep the river on your right and the highway at your shoulder". Thanks mates! Great show, my daughters first Waterboys experience and she's hooked. Can't wait for next US tour! Keep coming back!!!!

Love the tune. Heard it in '13 in Van, Seattle and Portland and it so stuck w/ me. Have the mates at work whistling it : ).
My dawters gone 2 of past 3 yrs to Ireland at xmas w/ her Dublin bf and all I asked was for her to see/video the H2Oboys there as they often play.

Great show last night at the Arvada Center. Despite a cool night the guys heated it up on stage. First time I've seen the Waterboys - and certainly not the last. Great mix of tracks from the new record, which is terrific, and old classics. Got a little misty eyed with "Fisherman's Blues."

A tight, lyrical, fast, furious & mystical blues album! The mercurial Waterboys never fail to impress their growing fan base. For 30 years you have been a must see live act. It would be very cool if Mike hung around the southern US long enough to record a follow up album called, "Post-modern Blues." I can't get enough! Please get back to Vancouver soon!. dh
